The Mahabharata, which forms the basis for all my stories, including ‘The Magadh Mystery’, was narrated by Ugrashrava to the rishis in Naimisharanya and also by Vaishampāyana, a disciple of Veda Vyāsa, at Janamejaya’s snake sacrifice. And, in India, our oral storytelling tradition is ancient. ![]() But oral storytelling stretches back for millennia. While handwritten books have been around for more than 2000 years, the print medium is more recent - the printing press was invented only in the 15th century, just 500 years ago. ![]()
